Club Newsletter from your President:
Arizona BMW Z Series Club newsletter of April 24th 2002
MEMBERSHIP There are still a few members that have not responded to the renewal reminder. Any unpaid members will be dropped from the email mailing list at the end of April which is the end of the 30 day grace period. Most of you have renewed already, thank you. If you still need to renew, please send your check for $35 to Virgil Jackson, club Treasurer. His address is 10417 E. Charter Oar Rd Scottsdale, AZ 85259. Checks should me made payable to the Arizona BMW Z Series Club. Thank you, we look forward to another year of great touring, special events, socializing, and enjoying the company of all the members.
MAY TOURING EVENT The May event will be a tour to the Pinetop/Lakeside area and a group luncheon. We still have to work out the details but wanted to get the word out so you could reserve the date, Saturday, May 24th. We'll be departing from Fountain Hills and we'll send all the details in a future newsletter. The weather up there in May should be the absolute best for top down touring. We plan to make a day of it and might even end up having dinner together on the return trip. We'll see how it plays out.
BEAT Not much to say on this subject because it is just about upon us. We have 18 cars signed up for the event, our best turnout ever. The organizers have added substantial improvements to the run this year and we're all looking forward to this mega touring event which starts this Saturday.
FREEBEE OK, now that I have your attention, here's the deal. Carol and I have some skiing clothing that we used once, about 12 years ago. They need a good home. We have Goggles, hats, gloves, bib type ski pants and some other stuff I think. Naturally these are sized to fit us when we were about 15 pounds lighter than we are today. Maybe some of you have some youngsters that could use it. All you have to do is let me know you want it and we'll work out delivery...............otherwise, it goes to charity.
FUTURE For those of you interested in go-karting, I plan to schedule another Saturday morning in May. This will be another event where we reserve the track just for our members at 10:00 AM before the official opening. They have the new 9 HP carts that are a big improvement over the previous 6.5 HP units and the fact that they are still brand new adds to the enjoyment. We'll email out the details later but I'll try to get us in on Saturday morning May 10th. I will need you RSVP on this one in order to make arrangements.
OTHER STUFF FYI Greg Wenzel has recovered very well from his bypass and has returned to work. We expect to see him on one of our upcoming tours. We will be repeating the Coronado Trail tour this September but the exact dates are not established yet. We will return to the Holiday Inn in Show Low and have our dinner banquet at Licano's (formerly, the paint pony) The June tour of Bryce Canyon and Grand Canyon is not far off. If you want to join in, there is probably still time to do so. Perhaps some of the newer members were not around several months ago when we first started planning for it. If you need information, the details and related newsletters are on the club web page under the calendar section. Or, you can email me. We have a pretty full inventory of clothing including some new items for the hot weather.
That's about it for this time,
Paul Ebeyer, President
