Tucson Drive 1/24/04
We'll meet at 8:30 AM in the parking lot on the southwest corner of Southern & Gilbert in Mesa. We'll depart before 9 AM and head east on Hwy 60 to Apache Junction and on toward Superior. When we arrive at Superior, we will stay on Hwy 60 and continue to Globe where we will take a 15 minute rest stop at the Texaco station toward the far east end of the city. Just outside Globe to the east is Hwy 77 South, which ends ends in the town of Hayden and at this point we continue south toward Oracle and Oracle Junction. Just south of Oracle on Hwy 77 (also Oracle Rd) is the town of Catalina. There's a Texaco station at Catalina on the right side of the highway and that is our destination. We'll be met there by John & Pattie Blezenski, our Tucson residents and experts. They will lead us to their home which is about 45 minutes away and we'll have a short stay there and then on to lunch at a local restaurant. If you get lost, here are the directions from the Texaco station to the Blezenski residence:
Go south on Hwy 77 (also known as Oracle Rd) to Ina Rd and turn left. Follow Ina Rd which will eventually become Skyline and then Sunrise Rd which dead ends at Sabino Canyon Rd. Turn right on Sabino Canyon Rd. and go to the next traffic light which is Snyder Rd. Turn left and the address is 8321 East Snyder Rd and the phone at home is 520.760.6652. The restaurant is only 1/2 mile from the Blezenski residence and the name of the restaurant is Hidden Valley Inn (520.299.4941). In the event you get separated from the group, this information should bail you out. We can discuss the return route during or after lunch.
