Four day tour to Silver City, NM and other destinations - September 23-26, 2011

I thought I would send some additional information on our September,  four day tour to Silver City, NM and other destinations: Sept  23,24,25,26

We have revised this tour to make it even more interesting and to incorporate more scenic and twisty roads to navigate. Essentially, there are two scenic drives on this tour, the first is the Coronado Trail from Clifton to Alpine, Arizona, about 50 miles of up and down and left and right two lane roads, and all of it is in the very scenic national forest.

The second, is the tour from Alpine, AZ down highway 180 to Silver City.
On past Silver City tours, the Coronado Trail portion was sacrificed in favor of the 180 route but going northbound. This year we will be doing both on the 4 day tour, northbound on the Coronado Trail to Eagar and southbound on hwy 180 to Silver City. You may want to pull out your Arizona and New Mexico maps and look over the routing.

We’ll meet up in East Mesa and drive to Globe and then on to Safford for lunch. Then we’ll go to Clifton and begin the Coronado Trail arriving later in Eagar, AZ where we will probably have a group dinner and stay overnight.

The following morning, we’ll backtrack to Alpine, pick up Hwy 180 and head to Silver City where we will overnight again. The third day will be devoted to
scenic drives and more twisty roads in the Silver City area. The following day we will return home.

More details on the tour will be forthcoming but I would like to get an idea of how many of you will be able to attend.  Some of you may be able to give me a definite yes or no at this time but if you can’t  commit right now, at least send me a “maybe.”

We have only four members on the list at this time. Thank you for your help on this.
