This year's July event will be held in JUNE! 06/23/2012

Those of you who have been members for a few years know that in the past 5 years we have gathered at Dillon's restaurant for dinner in Glendale either on or around the 4th of July.

We are not planning that event this year, we are considering a dinner tour on Saturday, June 23rd. The plan is to select an upscale restaurant in Prescott, depart Phoenix in the afternoon with a 5 or 5:30 arrival time in Prescott. The route will take us to Wickenburg, Yarnell Hill, The Prescott National Forest, into downtown Prescott and then on to the restaurant of choice.

June 23th destination is the Dry Gulch Steakhouse in Prescott.

We have completed the plan for the June 30th Dinner drive to Prescott. We will meet at the Albertson's parking lot on Carefree Hwy about 1/4 mile east of Interstate 17, north side of the street. Let's meet at the far east end of the complex in front of the bank. There are refreshments and a bathroom available in the Albertson's store.

We should arrive there at 3:00PM. At 3:15 PM we will head west on Carefree Hwy toward Wickenburg. We will have a 15 minute stop at McDonalds in Wickenburg. Our approximate ETA at the restaurant is set for approximately 5:30

After departing from Wickenburg, we will drive the usual route up through Yarnell Hill and Hwy 89 to Prescott through the Prescott National Forest. Previous June/July trips on this route usually have a promise of cooler weather once we hit the town of Yarnell. If your top is up and you want to lower it, this is a good place to do it and we'll stop the caravan to accommodate this. Please keep your club radio tuned in for instructions.

The balance of the drive is pretty straight forward until we arrive at the outskirts of Prescott. We will be entering the town from Hwy 89 which becomes White Spar Rd for a short distance and then becomes Montezuma Street after a left hand curve. Stay on Montezuma Street past Gurley Street and continue straight ahead, the Courthouse will be on your right ~~~~~ continue on and just after you pass Merritt Ave Montezuma Street turns into Whipple St and curves to the left ~~~~~remain on Whipple St and when it crosses Willow creek Road it turns into Iron Springs Road. (The Yavapia Medical Center will be on your right at that intersection) In approximately ½ mile Adams St branches off of Iron Springs Road to the left, there will be a mobile home court at that intersection as a navigation aid. Continue on Adams past Kile St, about one block and the Dry Gulch Restaurant is at 1630 Adams Street. phone 928 778 9693. If this seems complicated just use Google Maps directions from the Prescott Courthouse to the restaurant address, zoom in and print out the map.

We will need to refuel before starting home and the timing for that will depend whether or not we are early, late, or on schedule for the 5:30 time. We'll call out something on the radio. I believe there is a Shell station en route on either Whipple St or Iron Springs Road.

Please have a full fuel tank when starting the trip and remember to bring your club radio. We do need your RSVP so we will have an accurate count for the restaurant so please, let's hear from you. I am including the attendance list effective Sunday June 11th. See below

Thanks,

Paul
